Cardinals Interested in Mike Glennon When he is Released

UPDATE: If the Cardinals express interest in Mike Glennon tomorrow, it will be as a backup. Sam Bradford is expected to sign with the Cardinals. The deal is expected to be a 1-year contract for $20 million.

On February 28th, former NC State quarterback Mike Glennon found out that he would be released by the Bears when he hit free agency, which happens to be tomorrow.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and NFL.com, the Arizona Cardinals will express interest in Glennon when he hits the open market tomorrow.

The Cardinals missed out on Kirk Cousins (Looks to be signing with the Vikings) and Case Keenum (landed in Denver).

Carson Palmer retired, and Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert are unrestricted free agents, and could be on the move.

The Cardinals won’t necessarily be looking for Glennon to be locked-in as their starter. They also hold the 15th overall draft pick in this years draft.

AZ is a much better place for MG to be. Chicago was a bad deal, lack of offensive skill players, a porous OL and a offensive scheme not exactly friendly to a pocket QB. Of course he didn’t do himself any favors with his personal performance. Da Bears sent a clear message when they decided to give it all up for another QB rather than get players that might help MG succeed.

Nothing wrong with being a career backup, and a highly paid one at that.
