NC State’s Women’s Basketball Takes Down #16 Maryland 74-60 to Advance to Sweet 16

This afternoon the #4 Seed NC State Women’s Basketball Team (21st) defeated the #5 Seed Maryland (16th) 74-60 to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2007.

The Wolfpack improved to 26-8, becoming only the 5th team in school history to win 26 games.

All 5 NC State starters scored in double figures, and they were led by Kiara Leslie’s double-double (21 points and 11 boards) against her alma mater. Aislinn Konig (12 points), Kaila Ealey (12), Akela Maize (11), and Chelsea Nelson (10) also had strong offensive games.

Wolfpack Head Coach Wes Moore is in his 29th year coaching, and this will be his first trip to the Sweet 16.

They will play the winner of Oklahoma St and Mississippi St this Friday in the Sweet 16. OKST and Miss St will play tomorrow at 9pm.
