SI MOCK DRAFT: What do all these draft day trades mean for Bradley Chubb?

With the NFL draft about a month away, we have already seen some moving and shaking. The Jets have moved up, the Bills have moved up, the Giants have moved down and most significantly the Colts have moved down.

For NC State fans, the real team to watch is the Colts. Chubb was being projected as high as 3rd in mock drafts, and it was because the Colts have an obvious need for an edge rusher and they were sitting with the #3 overall pick.

A few days ago that all changed. The Jets, who are in dire need of a franchise QB, switched spots with the Colts and threw in 3 second round picks to make the move happen.

That move shifts a few things. With the Bills also moving up into the Giants spot at #2, you now have QBs likely going 1-4. With the Browns also at 5, and trying to remake their entire offense, they are focused in on getting Penn State RB, Saquon Barkley.

Next up would be the Colts, and guess who is still around for them to pick. You’ve got it, Bradley Chubb.

So, the Colts made a pretty smart move. They realized that teams trying to get into the top 4 were looking to take either one of the 4 elite-tier QBs, or the top RB, Saquon Barkley. That left them in a situation where, if they could get a ton back by just moving down 3 spots and they still were almost assured a shot at Chubb, who they have been targeting for months now.

Here is Sports Illustrated’s mock draft….
