Trea Turner hits 1st home run of 2018

Former NC State All-American shortstop Trea Turner hit his first home run of the 2018 season today in the Nationals 13-7 victory over the Reds, who improved to 2-0.

Turner was 2-4, with a home run, a walk, and 2 runs. The Nats opted to bat Trea 6th again today, instead of the lead off spot he was accustomed to last season. Adam Eaton, who has a higher on-base percentage than Turner, has slid into the lead off spot after returning from ACL surgery. Eaton was 5-5 today.

Turner fans, and fantasy owners, would obviously like to see him bat higher in the lineup, where he will see more at-bats, and likely get more runs and stolen base opportunities.

Through two games, Turner is batting .286. In the OBP category, it is a good sign that he has walked in each of the first two games of the season.
