Dave Doreen talks NC State Spring Game: BULLETED

Head Coach Dave Doeren spoke with the media after NC State’s Kay Yow Spring Game today, and you can watch it in full here, or read the BULLETED breakdown below.

• We didn’t fumble. Nobody got hurt. I think it was pretty successful. Only one ejection. It happens.
• One of Ryan Finley’s goals coming back was to play well in bad weather, and he threw the ball well today.
• Big deal to not fumble in a game like that. Says a lot.
• Louis Acceus, Isaiah Moore and Germaine Pratt were flying around at LB.
• Was impressed with Nakia Robinson. Some good runs today. Problems early in Spring holding onto the ball. Took care of it today and saw the holes.
• Place Kicker Chris Dunn was excellent today. Tough day to kick the ball. Got it up. Kicked it straight. Was in routine. Terrific all Spring.
• Darian Roseboro and James Smith-Williams have been steady. Grant Gibson and Larrell Murchison have gotten a lot of reps and had a very good spring. Need Eurndraus Bryant and Shug Frazier to get healthy & get in rotation.
• Was impressed with true freshman Joseph Boletepeli. Done some good things this Spring.
• Need to get Junior College transfer Val Martin here. Need to get 4-star signee Alim McNeil here. Need to get all of them on the field together. Going to be a good rotation.  Won’t be the four guys from last year who get all the pub, but we’ll have a good line.
• Kentavius Street’s torn ACL crushes my heart. Been through this with another player at Wisconsin (O’Brien Schofield). Same deal at an all-star game. Just retired from 9 years in the NFL. Told him this isn’t the way you want to enter the league, but you will enter the league and stay as long as you take care of business. He’ll be fine. Just disappointing it happened.
• Been fortunate this Spring. Have had guys out, but nothing major. Hurts your depth, but gives other people more reps.
• We’re in a whole different place than we were five years ago. There’s a lot of depth and competition.
