CJ Williams signs 3-year deal with Clippers

Former Wolfpacker, CJ Williams has achieved his dream. The 6’5 guard has signed a 3 year deal with the Los Angelas Clippers.

Sources: The Clippers and forward C.J. Williams are finalizing a three-year deal, elevating Williams from a two-way deal. Williams has served as a reliable starter and reserve for L.A. this season.

This elevates Williams from a 2-way player to a full-on NBA player.

He made his mark with the Clippers this season, playing in 36 games and averaging 5.3 points per game.

He had some big games and really came on late, putting up 18 vs the Grizzlies and nailing a game-winning 3 against the Hawks. Williams started a handful of games and really became a trusted member of the team, providing a quality scorer who would defend and protect the basketball.

However, just as he was hitting his stride, his 2-way contract expired and he was forced to go back down to the G-League. This put the Clippers in a tight spot where they had to figure out just what to do with him. They had the choice to sign him, cut him or send him down. Luckily, they sent him down, but had the long term plan to sign him to a full deal.

ESPN saw this story of an undrafted kid who never really had the NBA label on him in college, work his way up through the G-League and force the NBA’s hand. They ran an in-depth piece on him a couple months ago, detailing that journey.

CJ Williams, the 3 star out of Jack Britt HS in Fayetteville, who played 4 years at NC State, and who never gave up when went undrafted, has just signed a deal that will likely change his entire life.
