RALEIGH, N.C. – The second-ranked NC State baseball team will travel to Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon for a midweek matchup with the UNCW Seahawks. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Brooks Field.

The game will be broadcast live on the Seahawks Digital Network and radio coverage will be available on WKNC 88.1 FM and GoPack.com for premium subscribers.

NC State owns a 25-6 overall record heading into the contest, while UNCW is 20-11.

Freshman David Harrison will start on the mound for the Wolfpack and be opposed by Seahawks junior lefty Blake Morgan.

Last Time Out
In its last outing, NC State cruised past Louisville with a 10-3 victory to clinch the series. The Pack scored three runs in the top of the first and never looked back en route to the victory.

UNCW earned a 4-3 victory in its last outing to avoid the series sweep against Wofford at home.

The Series
Wednesday’s game will be the 88th meeting between the programs, as NC State leads the all-time series, 68-19. The Wolfpack swept the season series last year and has won 11 of the last 13 matchups.

Last Time Versus UNCW
The Wolfpack recorded a 6-3 win against the Seahawks in the most recent matchup between the programs on May 10, 2017, at Doak Field at Dail Park. Brett Kinneman sparked the offense in that game, as he hit a solo homer in the second inning before the Wolfpack tacked on runs after an RBI double from Brad Debo and a sacrifice fly from Joe Dunand.

Kent Klyman earned his first career win against UNCW, as he threw two shutout innings with a pair of strikeouts and retired all six batters he faced. Joe O’Donnell pitched an inning and a third to nail down the save.

Last Time at UNCW
NC State also traveled to UNCW last season when the Wolfpack earned an 8-5 victory at Brooks Field. The Pack hit three home runs in the contest, as Debo and Will Wilson each hit their first collegiate homers in the game.

The Wolfpack jumped out to a 5-0 victory in the game and held off a late comeback attempt from the Seahawks. O’Donnell pitched 1.2 innings of relief to earn the win and Austin Staley closed out the game to record the save.

Scouting UNCW
The UNCW Seahawks are off to a nice start to the season, as the squad is 20-11 through the first half of the year and 4-2 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. UNCW was picked to finish first in its conference by the league’s head coaches.

Two student-athletes were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, headlined by junior pitcher Alex Royalty and classmate Ryan Jeffers.

Mason Berne leads the CAA at the plate with a .372 batting average complemented by a team-high 42 hits. Jeffers paces the squad with 15 doubles and nine home runs to go along with a .342 batting average. As a team, the Hawks have compiled a .269 clip at the plate and are scoring 5.42 runs per game.

On the mound, UNCW’s pitchers have recorded a 3.20 earned run average (ERA). Wednesday’s starter Blake Morgan is 1-0 on the year with a 0.51 ERA and will be making his first start of the season.

Battle of the Deatherage Brothers
NC State’s Brock Deatherage will have another opportunity to compete against his younger brother Blake, who is in infielder/pitcher for UNCW.
