NC State Honors WR Thayer Thomas With Scholarship
On Saturday, NC State honored walk-on Wide Receiver Thayer Thomas with a scholarship as he heads into his first-year on the field for the Wolfpack as a redshirt freshman.
His younger brother, Linebacker Drake Thomas at Heritage High School, one of NC State’s top priorities in the 2019 recruiting class, took to Twitter to congratulate him.
Congratulations to my big bro @thayerthomas1 for getting put on scholarship this morning!! This is just the beginning, a lot of big things to come!! Hard work pays off.

Former NC State & NFL Cornerback, Dewayne Washington, who was Thayer’s head coach at Heritage High School also congratulated him via Twitter.
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching/teaching a lot of athletes the game of football. @thayerthomas1 is one of the humblest hard working human beings I’ve come in contact with at any level. Watch out Wolfpack nation! He’s truly a special talent with a bright future in “RED & WHITE” https://t.co/0a2gdQ2eCI

Senior Wolfpack Wide Receiver Steph Louis also gave him a shout out, and apparently his nickname for him is Jimmy Neutron. That’s amazing.

Thomas really impressed NC State head coach Doeren in Spring practice, and is currently one of the front runners to fill Nyheim Hines’ shoes as Punt Returner.
Here’s his Senior Highlight Video from Heritage High School (74 catches, 965 yards, 7 TDs)
