If you look at the list of referees that earned the honor of officiating the 2018 NBA Finals, Guthrie is the only newcomer.
Guthrie was a letterwinner at NC State in 1995, and went on to be drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 26th round after the season. He played for 4 seasons in the Reds Minor League system.
In 2017-18, Guthrie officiated 62 games in the NBA. If you want to check out his referee statistics (that I don’t feel like spending too much time to understand and explain), click here.
And how could I resist sharing this photo from his early years.
He and his team hosed Lebron last night.
