The Wolfpack bats that were silent last night, woke up this afternoon.

NC State beat Northeastern 9-3 to live to fight another day.

Senior pitcher Brian Brown pitched a complete game (131 pitches) to save the bullpen for the tomorrow’s possible doubleheader. He gave up 3 earned runs, and struck out 8. It was his 61st career start, marking a new school record, passing Terry Harvey.

Freshman catcher Patrick Bailey led the way offensively, hitting two home runs, and knocking in 5 RBI’s.

First baseman Evan Edward knocked in three more runs with an RBI triple.

Leadoff man Josh McClain collected three more hits to his name, bringing his season total to 90, which leads the ACC, and moved him into the Top-10 nationally.

The Wolfpack will face the loser of the Army/Auburn game (7pm) tomorrow at 2pm. If they win that game, they will then play the winner of tonight’s game at 7pm tomorrow night. If they win that, they will have to play them once again on Monday at 7pm.
