RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State baseball’s Jack Conley was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 27th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft with the 797th overall pick, as a total of five Wolfpack players were chosen in this year’s event.

In his 22 seasons as head coach with the Wolfpack, Elliott Avent has had 105 players selected in the MLB Draft, including the five selections from this year. Junior Brett Kinneman along with seniors Brian Brown, Josh McLain and Brock Deatherage were all selected yesterday.

Conley compiled a .333 batting average at the plate during his junior season with the Wolfpack, as he saw action in 21 games with eight starts. He hit a pair of home runs during the year with his first against UNC Asheville and his second versus James Madison.

The Raleigh native enjoyed a standout performance against the JMU Dukes, as he was 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs and a homer.

Conley logged a .515 slugging percentage at the dish and a .476 on-base percentage.

An excellent receiver and thrower behind the plate, Conley tallied 89 putouts and had 10 assists without committing an error.

NC State has now had at least four players selected in the draft in each of the last five years.
