Bradley Chubb Does Wolfpack vs. Broncos Trivia

Former NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb was put on the spot to do some Wolfpack vs. Broncos trivia.

The #5 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft struggled with some NC State history, but we still love him.

Let me help Chubb out.

  • NC State picked up the nickname of the Wolfpack when an alumnus wrote to the Technician that the football team was “unruly as a pack of Wolfe’s” in 1921.
  • Live wolves would accompany the NC State cheerleaders sometimes during the 1940’s-1960’s. They were timberwolves. Then in the 60’s one of their favorite wolves, Lobo III, was found out to be a coyote, and not a wolf. Once he was found out, the fans turned on Lobo III. Wolves were deemed to be too wild and dangerous to have on the sidelines, so in 1972, 5 Siberian Huskies roamed the sidelines. Once again, the fans didn’t buy the dog-as-a-wolf trope. Here recently Tuffy, a Tasmaskan dog, has graced the sidelines, and he looks so much like a wolf, I think the fans have settled and accepted him.
  • In 1892, NC State’s original colors were Pink and Blue. Then in 1895, Brown and White were shortly used. Later in 1895, Red and White were chosen as the school colors, and they have stuck ever since. Bradley, I love the black alternate uniforms as well, but the Wolfpack are still the Red and White from NC State.
