NC State Senior pitcher Brian Brown was the ACC Pitcher of the Year, and today he added another accolade to show just how well-rounded he is, earning the 2018 ACC Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Brown is the first player in NC State history to win this award.

NC State’s Brian Brown, the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, leads the 2018 All-ACC Academic Team as announced today.

The 2018 ACC Pitcher of the Year and All-ACC First Team honoree, Brown was named to the Collegiate Baseball All-America Second Team and the NCBWA All-America Third Team. The senior broke the program record for career starts with 61, and recorded 25 career wins to tie for fifth most in Wolfpack history.

A sport management major from Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, Brown was named to the Dean’s List in the spring and is the first from NC State to be named ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year since the award was established in the fall of 2007. He ranked sixth in the league with a 2.74 earned run average and fourth in innings pitched (98.2), and finished the year with a 7-2 record with two complete games, 98 strikeouts, and a .229 opposing batting average.
