Former NC State All-American pitcher Carlos Rodon blanked the Cardinals last night, pitching 7.1 scoreless innings, striking out 7, and walking only 2 in a 4-o White Sox victory.

“You’ve got to learn through adversity,” said Rodon, who improved to 2-3 and lowered his ERA to 3.56. “There’s going to be some tough outings. I’ve had numerous tough outings, you guys have watched them. I think a couple years ago, I pitched against this team, a little different, and I didn’t even get out of the first inning. There are days like that, and there are days like today where you’ve got all your stuff and it goes well.” (MLB)

Through two July starts, Rodon is 1-0 with a 1.56 ERA, striking out 13 batters in 13 innings. He has held opponents to a .170 batting average, and a WHIP of 1.20.

In 7 total starts in 2018, Rodon now boasts a 2-3 record, a 3.56 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and is holding his batters to a .211 batting average.
