Former NC State Teammates Unite Again in Double-A

Third baseman Evan Mendoza and catcher Andrew Knizer were teammates at NC State (2015-16), and they have reunited as teammates once again with the Double-A Springfield Cardinals.

Knizer was drafted by the Cardinals in the 7th round (226th overall) of the 2016 MLB Draft. Mendoza was drafted by the Cardinals in the 11th round (334th overall) of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Knizer made his Double-A debut in 2017, and Mendoza made his earlier this season.

Through 55 games for Springfield in 2018, Knizer is batting .299, and through 59 games Mendoza is batting .270.

Knizer is the #5 prospect in the Cardinals organization, and Mendoza is #28.
