NC State One of the Best in the Nation at Developing Talent

Earlier this week CFBDataLab released some research revealing which college football programs have done the best job developing talent over the past three seasons. They call it Talent Adjusted Coaching Impact. In a nutshell, their equation determined which school did the most with what they had.

NC State ranked 13th out of the 65 Power 5 schools.

On the other hand, Wolfpack rival UNC was at the bottom of the barrel.

A comment I’ve seen thrown out there is that Doeren has done a good job recruiting, but hasn’t produced results on the field. I think that’s wrong on both fronts. I’m not saying that Doeren has done a poor job recruiting, because he hasn’t. It’s just progressively been getting better, but remember, his 2018 class was his 1st Top-25 class (#23), and they are just now arriving on campus. On the other side of the coin, NC State won 9 games last season, something that has only been done 11 times in school history. Also, they tied the school record for ACC wins, with 6, which hadn’t been done since 1992 (only done 6 times).

If Doeren and his staff have proven themselves to be one of the top 15 schools in the nation at developing talent, look forward to the next couple of years, with back-to-back Top-25 recruiting classes coming in (2019 currently ranks 14th). Imagine how they will develop the top-tier talent that is coming to Raleigh.
