NC State’s NFL 2018 Week 1 Preseason Report: 8/9/18

Last night, 19 former NC State football players suited up in the first week of the 2018 NFL Preseason. Here’s a breakdown of how they did.

Browns 20 Giants 10

Former NC State running back Matt Dayes rushed the ball three times for 13 yards for the Browns.

Former Wolfpack defensive tackle BJ Hill had 1 tackle for the Giants.

Colts 19 Seahawks 17

Former NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 6 of his 8 pass attempts for 35 yards for the Colts.

Former Wolfpack running back Nyheim Hines rushed the ball three times for 7 yards for the Colts. Unfortunately, Hines also fumbled the ball twice, but neither resulted in turnovers. He also returned a kickoff for 6 yards, and 5 punts for 3 yards.

Former NC State quarterback Russell Wilson completed 4 of his 5 pass attempts for 43 yards, throwing one touchdown for the Seahawks. He also rushed the ball twice for 14 yards.

Former Wolfpack cornerback Dante Johnson and offensive lineman JR Sweezy didn’t see action for the Seahawks.

Steelers 31 Eagles 14

Former NC State H-Back Jaylen Samuels rushed the ball 6 times for 7 yards for the Steelers. He also had 1 reception for 1 yard.

Saints 24 Jaguars 20

Former NC State tight end David Grinnage didn’t record any stats for the Jaguars last night, but he did see action as a reserve.

Former Wolfpack Offensive Tackle Will Richardson didn’t suit up for the Jaguars because of an injured hand.

I couldn’t determine if former NC State offensive guard Tony Adams played for the Jacksonville last night.

Bucs 26 Dolphins 24

Former Wolfpack cornerback Jonathan Alston recorded 1 tackle for the Dolphins last night.

Former NC State center Ted Larsen played as a reserve last night for Miami.

Patriots 26 Redskins 18

Former Wolfpack linebacker Jerod Fernandez was impressive in his NFL debut, recording 6 tackles for the Redskins.

Former NC State offensive tackle Joe Thuney started for the Patriots last night.

Packers 31 Titans 17

Former Wolfpack safety Josh Jones played as a reserve for the Packers, but didn’t record any stats.

Chiefs 10 Texans 17

Former NC State cornerback David Amerson and defensive tackle TY McGill both played as reserves for the Chiefs, but didn’t record any stats.

Bills 23 Panthers 28

Former Wolfpack place kicker Steven Hauschka connected on his one field goal attempt from 26 yards out, and also was 2 for 2 on extra points for the Bills.
