Athlon predicting NC State to be part of two of 2018s biggest ACC upsets

Athlon, known for their preseason predictions and team previews has just come out with their list of 2018 (predicted) upsets and NC State is on there…twice.

Let’s go with the bad news first.

Athlon is predicting that NC State falls to Marshall on Saturday, Sept 22nd.

The week after hosting West Virginia, the Wolfpack will journey up to the Mountain State to play Marshall. The Thundering Herd returns 17 starters from its New Mexico Bowl championship team including virtually all of the nation’s No. 17 scoring defense.

Now for the good news…

2. NC State over Florida State, Nov. 3
The Wolfpack will have upset aspirations of their own when FSU comes to town. Dave Doeren’s crew won in Tallahassee last year and NC State is always a stern test for the Seminoles. The trip to Raleigh is right between games against Clemson and Notre Dame, making this a tricky spot for Florida State.

Of course, these are just predictions. There wasn’t much number crunching and we haven’t even seen anyone’s official depth charts, so take it with a grain of salt. However, I do think this speaks to just how much of an unknown NC State is to the outside media.
