The 17th ranked NC State Men’s Soccer team (2-0) went on the road tonight and picked up a STATEMENT victory over #2 Akron (0-1-1), defeating the Zippy’s 2-0.

The Wolfpack were able to score both of their goals in the first half and hold onto the lead. Junior Gabriel Machado (Assist – Ivy Brisma) and Freshman Aiden Foster (Assist – Manny Perez) were the ones that put the ball in the net, and it was the first college goal for each of them.

Akron had 9 shots to NC State’s 3, but 2 of the Wolfpack’s shot were on goal, compared to only 1 for Akron. That one shot on the Wolfpack goal was stopped by Sophomore goalkeeper Leon Krapf, giving him his 8th shutout of his career.

The Wolfpack snapped Akron’s 18-match home unbeaten streak.

2nd year head coach George Kiefer has now led the Wolfpack to 3 victories over Top-5 opponents in only 20 matches.

NC State’s next match will be at home against Presbyterian this Friday at 7pm.
