The #14 NC State Men’s Soccer team improved to 3-0 tonight, defeating Presbyterian 2-0 at home.

NC State’s past two victories have come against teams that won their respective conference titles last year. Akron won the Mid-American Conference last year, and Presbyterian is the reigning Big South Champ.

The score was tied 0-0 at the half, but Junior Gabriel Machado got the scoring started in the 54th minute, off of an assist from Sophomore David Loera and Senior Simon Blotko. Machado took 3 shots on goal, and the goal was his second of the season.

Senior Clayton Sparks gave the Wolfpack a 2-goal advantage in the 86th minute for good measure, off of an assist from Sophomore Manny Perez and Sophomore David Loera (2nd assist of the night).

Machado’s 2 goals on the year leads NC State, and Perez’s 3 assists is good for the team lead as well.

NC State took 14 shots, compared to Presbyterian’s 11, but Presbyterian only managed 2 shots on goal, compared to NC State’s 8.

Sophomore Goal Keeper Leon Krapf picked up his second straight shutout, and he now has 9 in his career. Krapf has recorded shutouts in 43% of his matches (21 matches).
