NC State Graduate Senior Center Garrett Bradbury spoke with the media after the Wolfpack’s 24-13 victory over James Madison in their season opener on Saturday. The VIDEO is above, and a BULLETED breakdown is below.

On running struggles…

  • We didn’t run the ball as well as we wanted to. We’ll figure out with film what was going on there. At the end of the day, we’re 1-0.

On Ryan Finley…

  • We trust Ryan (Finley), he trusts us. We’re just out there trying to get a win, and that’s what we did. If the run game isn’t working, and Ryan is on, let him do what he does best.
  • You can can give Ryan all the credit you want. He’s one of the most prepared quarterbacks in the country. We preach that gameday is just a reflection of your habits. We’ve seen him doing that every day, all summer and all camp.

On finishing the final drive with a rushing touchdown…

  • The last two plays of the game were runs, and they were pretty good runs too, with the last one finishing in the end zone. Think it was good for Reggie to feel that out…for the offensive line…to come off of the field with a rushing touchdown. Huge going into next week, but at the same time we have to go back and look at the film to see what wasn’t working before that.

On the heat…

  • It was pretty hot, but I think we’re built for it. All summer long Coach Thunder (Dantonio Burnette) drills mental toughness. In practice you can’t simulate that at all, so that’s when you’re mental toughness has to kick in. You have to push through stuff on Saturday’s.
