The NC State Men’s Soccer team is on a roll. They moved up to #4 in the Top Drawer Soccer Top-25 on Monday morning. They defeated William & Mary 2-1 in double overtime last night. Today Junior Gabriel Machado was named the National Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer!

Here’s what they had to say about Machado:

It was one of those newcomers that left his mark last week. Gabriel Machado, a transfer from Monroe College, scored both game winning goals as the ACC side grabbed two wins. That included a 2-0 victory on the road at Akron, a big win at this stage of the season.

The junior college transfer has hit the ground running in Raleigh, scoring the game-winning goals for the Pack in wins against Akron and Presbyterian. (TDS)

Also, Machado was named the ACC Player of the Week.

Machado scored both game-winning goals in NC State’s 2-0 week that was highlighted by a 2-0 win at No. 4/7 Akron on Aug. 27. In his first start of the season, the Sao Paulo, Brazil, native found the back of the net early in the first half at 13:58 mark against the Zips. The Wolfpack tacked on another first-half goal to earn NC State’s third victory over a top-five foe since second-year head coach George Kiefer took over prior to the 2017 season. Machado also scored NC State’s first goal in the 54th minute in its 2-0 win over Presbyterian on Aug. 31. (ACC)
