NFL GMs, coaches and scouts rank two NC State QBs in NFL’s Top 8

Sports Illustrated sent out a ballot asking NFL general managers, head coaches, scouting directors, offensive coordinators and quarterbacks coaches to give their opinion on ‘who will be the Top 5 QBs in football at the end of the season? ‘

Rankings were done by weighing choices based on placement. For instance, five points for a first-place vote, four points for a second-place vote, three points for a third-place vote, and so on.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers: 148 points (23 first-place votes)
2. Tom Brady, Patriots: 125 points (7 first-place votes)
3. Drew Brees, Saints: 81 points (1 first-place vote)
4. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers: 29 points
5. Carson Wentz, Eagles: 26 points
6. Matt Ryan, Falcons: 20 points
7. Philip Rivers, Chargers: 14 points
8. Russell Wilson, Seahawks: 12 points

There were 32 ballots cast.

Why does this matter?
This matters because even though it was posted by Sports Illustrated, this isn’t some writer’s list. This is a list basically created by people that know this game best (the coaches, GMs, and scouts).

It’s also worth noting that this is how the industry thinks internally, so when it comes time to pay these QBs out, you are getting to see how the league decision makers (at-average) value these guys.

It was interesting to see Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers above Russell Wilson, but who am I to judge. Who are you top 5?
