NC State’s DEPTH CHART vs. West Virginia (with notes)

NC State released their depth chart for this Saturday’s matchup versus #14 West Virginia today at Dave Doeren’s weekly press conference.

Notes

  • Redshirt Sophomore Tight End Dylan Autenrieth has missed the first two games of the season due to injury, but he is finally cleared to play this Saturday, and has jumped to the top of the Depth Chart. This is huge news for the Wolfpack run game. Redshirt Freshman Damien Darden has started the past two games, who entered the season with no college snaps. Autenrieth was Cole Cook’s protege last season, and is a very good run blocker, which is an essential component to the Wolfpack’s rushing scheme. The game will be effected by weather, which will likely shift the offensive attack to be run heavy. Autenrieth’s return comes at a perfect time. Redshirt Freshman Dylan Parham missed the season opener against James Madison due to injury, but did return against Georgia Southern, and logged a career high of 38 snaps, and a career high of 2 receptions (11 yards), but still sits behind Darden on the depth chart.
  • Redshirt Graduate Senior Wide Receiver Stephen Louis is still listed as a starter, but he is currently in the concussion protocol process after taking a scary blow to the head against Georgia State.
  • Freshman Running Back Ricky Person didn’t play in the Georgia State game due to an undisclosed injury, and he has fallen to third on the depth chart. Freshman Trent Pennix had 28 yards rushing and 66 yards receiving against Georgia State, including his first touchdown reception, and has moved ahead of Person on this weeks depth chart.
  • There is an “OR” between Redshirt Senior Free Safety Dexter Wright and Junior Tim Kidd-Glass, where there wasn’t one last week. That might be because Kidd-Glass was one of the top-5 best graded players on NC State’s defense against Georgia State.
  • Not sure if it was a typo, but Junior Cornerback Nick McCloud doesn’t have a backup on this weeks depth chart. Redshirt Senior Cornerback Maurice Trowell was listed as his backup last week.
  • Redshirt Junior Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers sat out last weeks game vs. Georgia State, but is still listed as the starter. Doeren said in his press conference that he was doing great, but didn’t give any more details than that. It is yet to be seen if he will be ready to go.
