NC State TE Cary Angeline Eligible to Play vs. Marshall

NC State Redshirt Sophomore Tight End Cary Angeline (6’7″/254)  is eligible to play in the Wolfpack’s next game against Marshall on September 22nd on the road.

Angeline played two games for Southern Cal his Redshirt Freshman season last year, but filed an appeal with the NCAA to receive immediate eligibility heading into the 2018 season, and was deemed ineligible for the first 3 games of the season.

Here’s the catch.

Angeline was only ineligible for the first three games of the season because he had to sit out 365 days from the day he left his original 4-year college (Click here to learn more about the 4-2-4 transfer rules).

Technically speaking, I believe that 365 day ticker runs out this Sunday.

As a result of the cancellation of this Saturday’s game vs. #14 West Virginia, Angeline only missed 2 games instead of 3, and is now eligible to play in the Wolfpack’s next game.

This also means, that if NC State and West Virginia can find a way to reschedule the highly anticipated game, Angeline will be a part of NC State’s offensive attack. The likelihood of the two schools finding a way to reschedule aren’t high, but haven’t been ruled out entirely at this point either.

For a full breakdown of what Angeline brings to the table, check out our Preseason Tight End Position Group Preview.

To summarize, Angeline is going to add a new dimension to the Wolfpack air attack. He was the Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year in 2016 at USC. Head Coach Dave Doeren says he’s the most versatile player they have had at NC State during his tenure, and Tight Ends Coach Eddie Faulkner thinks he could be as good as any Tight End he’s seen.

The Wolfpack are adding an All-ACC caliber player one game sooner than expected.

Here’s his Senior Season Highlights.
