NC State’s 2-0 Start Has Been A Youth Movement

NC State is 2-0 to kickoff the 2018 college football season, and the Wolfpack has a lot of young faces to thank for it.

Through 2 games, 82% of NC State’s points have been scored by players that had no points to their name heading into 2018 (53 of the 65 points scored).

First Time Scorers

Chris Dunn, Place Kicker, Freshman – 17 points
Thayer Thomas, Wide Receiver, Redshirt Freshman – 12 points
Trent Pennix, Running Back, Freshman – 6 points
C.J. Riley, Wide Receiver – Redshirt Sophomore – 6 points
Brady Bodine, Running Back, Redshirt Graduate Senior – 6 points
Matt McKay, Quarterback, Redshirt Freshman – 6 points

The only player who has scored in 2018 that already had prior scoring experience is Senior Running Back Reggie Gallaspy, who has rushed for 2 touchdowns. Gallaspy had 13 career touchdowns entering the season.

This percentage is destined to change in the near future. Wide Receivers Kelvin Harmon (Junior), Stephen Louis (Redshirt Graduate Senior) and Jakobi Meyers (Redshirt Junior) have yet to find pay dirt through 2 games.

That will change, but these young bucks (besides Bodine) now have scoring in their blood, and their experience and confidence going forward will continue to reap benefits this year, and in the years to come.
