NC State Offers 4-Star PF Chandler Lawson

It was looking like there were only 3 prospects the NC State Men’s Basketball Team was focusing on in the 2019 class (Wendell Moore, Jalen Lecque and Patrick Williams), but Kevin Keatts extended an offer to 2019 4-Star Power Forward Chandler Lawson (6’8”/205) earlier this week.

Lawson plays for Oak Hill Academy up in Virginia, which is Keatts old stomping grounds. He spent the past three seasons with Memphis East High School, where he won 3 state championships under the tutelage of Penny Hardaway, who is now the head coach of Memphis.

ESPN ranks him as the #58 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class, and the #2 player in the state of Virginia. 247Sports ranks him as the #14 Power Forward in 2019.

He is taking an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend and has one scheduled with Georgia Tech for October 5th.

Lawson also holds offers from Baylor, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Memphis, Ole Miss, and South Carolina.

If you watch his tape, you can quickly understand why Keatts offered him. He is tall and has an incredible wingspan, and is extremely athletic. He has finesse around the rim but is also a high riser. He has a milky jumper and can sink it from beyond the arch. Add on to that the fact that he can handle the rock on a fast break and dish to the open man, and you have a complete basketball player in Chandler Lawson.

NC State only has 2 scholarship left for 2019 but has 4 offers out there. What is Keatts angle with the offer of SF Chandler Lawson and why is he so focused on bringing in a Forward when he has 5 already locked into the rotation for 2019?
