Reggie Gallaspy’s Career Day Was Key In NC State’s Victory Over Boston College

After Freshman running back Ricky Person rushed for 108 yards against Virginia, the spotlight and pressure that had been on Senior running back Reggie Gallaspy faded a little bit.

Heading into this past Saturday’s matchup against Boston College, Gallaspy reminded the Wolfpack fans that he’s still the Senior, and the ball was in his hands when the game was on the line.

Gallaspy had a career day against the Golden Eagles, rushing for over 100 yards for the first time in his career, carrying the ball 25 times for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns.

After 3 seasons of patiently waiting his turn, Gallaspy finally crossed the century mark in his 38th career game.

Person was electric again on Saturday, rushing for 92 yards (5.4 yards per carry), but fumbled a ball that resulted in a turnover. He will learn from his mistake, and will continue to get plenty of opportunities in the upcoming games, but when head coach Dave Doeren needed to make sure no more balls hit the dirt, he put the ball in the sure hands of Reggie Gallaspy.

Saturday was the best Gallaspy has looked all season, hitting the hole hard, and making it to the second level on numerous runs.

Gallaspy’s 7 rushing touchdowns ranks 3rd in the ACC after Week 6.

The Wolfpack rushing attack has turned a corner after entering ACC play, and the recipe looks like a healthy combination of the ‘thunder’ of Gallaspy, and the ‘lightning’ of Person. Both have their role to play, and the combination of the two makes the Wolfpack offense extremely difficult to stop when paired with a dominant passing attack.
