2020 4-star SG Cam Thomas took his official visit to NC State this weekend
While some of the more hardcore State fans like to keep track of which recruits NC State is offering and which ones are listing the Wolfpack as a possibility, when a kid takes an official visit to Raleigh it’s time that all Pack fans should pay attention.
Cam Thomas, a 4-star SG from the 2020 class, used one of his five allotted official visits to check out NC State this past weekend. He toured the facilities, got the pitch and got to check out ‘Primetime with the Pack’.
Head Coach Kevin Keatts will host Cameron Thomas, a class of 2020 SG from @BooWilliamsAAU/Oak Hill Academy this weekend on an official visit at NC State University.

Thomas has been on Keatts radar for a bit and State has been out to see him play, however, they aren’t alone.
Pitt’s Jeff Capel along with assistants from Virginia, NC State, Illinois, Dayton & Wake Forest were in today for the Oak Hill/Hargrave scrimmage for the likes of Cam Thomas, Chandler Lawson, and Kofi Cockburn

So why is State so heavy on Thomas? First off, let’s look at their roster.
In 2020, Beverly, Devon Daniels and Blake Harris will be seniors, Markell and CJ Bryce will have just graduated, and recent 5-star commit Jalen Lecque will be a sophomore (if he doesn’t go to the NBA). That leaves NC State with a need for a young SG who can learn the ropes and be ready to take over when the seniors leave.
Looking at Cam Thomas’ skillset you see a kid who is showing signs of being an elite 3-level scorer at the ACC level. He’s already a great spot shooter and a very good shooter off the bounce. He’s 6’3 and still has a lot of HS basketball to play. He’s not crazy athletic, but he’s a physical kid for his age, doesn’t shy away from contact, and can finish through it. Picking up Thomas (who likely will rise to 5-star status eventually) would be huge for Keatts and company.
