Kevin Keatts met with the media after NC State’s 111-62 exhibition win over Chowan. Above is the full press conference and below are the bulleted highlights.

• Wanted to look at a lot of combinations and glad nobody got hurt
• Thought guys played hard. That’s how he wants this team to play.
• Taking off tomorrow and getting back in Wednesday to clean things up.
• Competed well. Centers played well. Funderburk went 7-7 and thought Wyatt Walker showed off great passing.
• Any given game anyone can lead this team in scoring. Tonight it was Devon Daniels.
• Wanted to see how guys played together. Started small and at one point had traditional 4 and 5 in there together.
• Tried to get 40 deflections against Chowan and had 53.
• Jericole Hellems has played so well in practice and didn’t do well in secret scrimmage. Wanted him to play well and he did tonight. Going to be a good player.
• Happy with defense. Flew around for loose balls, got deflections, took charges. Excited about it.
• Going into the season, comfortable playing 9 or 10 guys. That might change when Braxton gets back. There are no ‘starters’ on this team.More worried about the guy who are finishing the game.
• Jumped on CJ Bryce because he didn’t take a charge when he was in position. Don’t have great shot blockers so the team needs to have good defensive positioning and take charges. Our motto is “We guard our own.” meaning we defend our own guy. If you need help the team will help you and tonight they helped each other.
