Goodman lists CJ Bryce as Top-25 impact transfer, snubs Devon Daniels

Jeff Goodman, the former ESPN basketball analyst and now with Stadium.com, just posted his list of the top-25 impact transfers for the coming season.

On the list was NC State’s CJ Bryce, coming in at #8. Here is what Goodman had to say about Bryce:

Bryce averaged 17.4 points two years ago for Kevin Keatts, and followed him from UNCW to Raleigh. Bryce can score at all three levels and has a great pull-up game. Look for him to make an immediate impact, especially due to the fact that he’s already familiar with the system. (Stadium)

While we obviously agree with CJ Bryce being on this list, we think Goodman missed huge here by leaving off Devon Daniels (who transferred from Utah.)

I mean, it’s not like Daniels isn’t a known entity. The kid played his freshman year in the Pac-10 and scored 10 points and grabbed 5 boards in only  27 minutes per game. He shot 57% from the floor and 40% from 3. He also was a great defender and a heady player. Those metrics show an extremely efficient offensive player. and would project him to be a big-impact transfer (surely falling in the Top-25.)

This kind brings into question how Goodman even came up with this list. If you sort by points per game or rebounds per game for all transfers, then this is about what you’d come up with. However, when a guy like Daniels, whose high value just takes a little digging to uncover, doesn’t show up on the list, you have to question the accuracy of this Top-25.

Either way, good to see CJ on here and let’s hope Goodman is at least correct on that call.
