NC State’s Depth Chart vs. Wake Forest (with notes)

NC State released their depth chart for their Thursday night game against Wake Forest at Dave Doeren’s press conference at Noon, and there are few things with noting.

Notes

  • I failed to mention this last week. Freshman Tanner Ingle lost his starting job at Nickelback to Redshirt Junior Stephen Griffin. After starting the first 7 games of the season, Griffin got the nod against Florida State, and he is listed as the starter against Wake Forest. Ingle really lost the job at the beginning of the Syracuse game. After playing 16 snaps, Griffin came in and played a majority of the contest against the Orangemen (67 snaps). Griffin had 6 tackles and 1 forced fumble against the Seminoles on Saturday. Griffin, a transfer from Tennessee, was expected to be the starter at the beginning of the season, but battled injuries all Fall Camp.
  • Junior Cornerback Nick McCloud missed his second straight game on Saturday, and Freshman Teshaun Smith started his second consecutive game in his place. Doeren praised Smith’s play in his press conference today (2 tackles and 1 pass breakup), but the loss of McCloud is a big one. McCloud is the veteran leader of the Cornerbacks, and the best in coverage. Doeren didn’t state whether or not McCloud would be able to play on Thursday against Wake Forest, but he once again is listed as the starter.
  • Senior Nose Guard Eurndraus Bryant missed the FSU game, and so did his backup Redshirt Sophomore Shug Frazier. As a result, Senior Darian Roseboro moved over from End, starting his first game at Defensive Tackle. Doeren wasn’t sure if Bryant or Frazier would be able to play on Thursday, but said they are doing much better. Bryant is still listed as the starter.
