Junior Wyatt Walker had 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in his debut for NC State tonight in their 105-55 season opening victory over Mount Saint Mary’s tonight. He played 22 minutes. Walker spoke with the media after the contest, and the video is ABOVE and a bulleted breakdown is BELOW.

  • I think early on we were doing a poor job communicating. Especially on some of those “kiss” screens that they run. Guys weren’t coming together and talking. It’s a communication issue. It’s different than practice. 1st game with the crowd being pretty loud. I think we were able to clean that up a little bit.
  • I think we did good. We struggled in the first half getting things going defensivley. It’s good to get the first win out of the way. Coach said you can either be 0-1, or 1-0, and we are 1-0, so that’s a good thing.
  • We are used to playing man-to-man defense in practice, but it was good experience to play against their zone. Helps prepare for the ACC with teams like Syracuse and Virginia.
