3-Star 2019 QB Payton Thorne Taking Official Visit to NC State Today
3-star 2019 Quarterback Payton Thorne (6’2″/187) committed to Western Michigan on May 8th, but the offer he received from NC State on October 14th is making him rethink that commitment.

Thorne is taking an official visit to NC State today, and will obviously be in attendance for the Wolfpack’s battle with the Demon Deacons.
Thorne (Naperville Central/Illinois) also holds offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Kent St., and New Mexico.
NC State is set to have 3 scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in 2019: Redshirt Freshman Devin Leary, Redshirt Sophomore Bailey Hockman, and Redshirt Sophomore Matt McKay. The Wolfpack would prefer to have 4 scholarship signal callers on the roster at all times, and the offer they extended to Thorne confirms that desire. With the possibility of injuries, and attrition through transfers or early entry into the NFL, this is wise protocol.
