The NC State Women’s Soccer team hosted and beat Northwestern 1-0 in the 1st round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament last night.

Freshman Jenna Butler picked a good time for her first collegiate goal, putting the ball through the net in the 76th minute off of a cornerkick assist from Senior Hannah Keogh.

The Wolfpack outshot Northwestern 11 to 7, and had 6 shots on goal compared to Wildcat’s 3.

Senior Goalkeeper Sydney Wooten picked up her 7th shutout of 2018, and the 24th of her career (3rd all-time).

The win was Tim Santoro’s 50th as the Wolfpack’s head coach.

NC State has advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament 11 times, and 3 of those have come the past three years.

The Wolfpack will face the winner of today’s Santa Clara vs. Wisconsin-Milwaukee matchup on November 16th.
