Sophomore DJ Funderburk had 13 points (2nd on the team), 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block in NC State’s 95-49 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore today, helping the Wolfpack improve to 2-0. Funderburk was 5 for 5 from the field (1-1 3PT) and has yet to miss a shot through 2 games.

He spoke with the media after the game, and the video is ABOVE, and a bulleted breakdown is BELOW.

  • I hang my hat on defense. After defense, offense comes.
  • I hope to not miss a shot this year, but I know it’s a reality. I’m not worried about it. I just take my shots as they come.
  • I feel like I got adjusted to Keatts style of offense by the second week of practice. From there on, I just got my conditioning a lot better. After that, I’ve just been going.
  • Having Braxton Beverly back is a big energy boost. You saw him smiling hitting those threes. We’re just glad to have him back. We were missing his threes.
  • Our coaches told us that you have to come out ready to play for noon games.
  • Torin Dorn lets us know what Coach Keatts wants. He’s the leader of the whole team, being the coach on the court. He’s another version of Keatts on the floor. Off the court, he’s just a great guy, and we all gel well together.
  • Felt routine hitting the three on the baseline. I practice it a lot.
  • We could have done better. We really only wanted them to have 35 points. We’ll go back to the drawing board and work on it in practice.
  • I’d like to see us get on the fast break a lot more. We need to pressure them more. We are letting people dribble too much, and get comfortable in their offense too much.
