Previewing NC State’s Opponent: UNC-Asheville

NC State (2-0) will host UNC-Asheville (1-0) tonight at 7pm for their third game of the season. The Wolfpack enters the contest with a perfect 18-0 record against the Bulldogs. Despite the lopsided nature of the series, the past two contests were decided by a total of 7 points: 11/11/11 – 84-79 & 11/23/12 – 82-80.

UNC-Asheville won the 1st game of the Mike Morrell era last Thursday, smashing St. Andrews 87-47. The victory was their first season-opening win since 2012. Three players scored in double-figures. Freshman Guard DeVon Baker led the way with 27 points (9-16 FG & 3-4 3PT), 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Guard Tajion Jones added 14 & Freshman Coty Jude chipped in 11.

The Bulldogs only had 9 turnovers, and had 18 assists on 28 field goals.

UNC-Asheville boasts one of the youngest coaching staff’s and youngest roster’s in the nation. The coaching staff is the 5th youngest in the nation, with an average age of 33 years and 274 days. They also have the 5th youngest roster.

The Bulldogs return just 5.5 percent of their points from last season and 2.9 percent of their starts. In total, the Bulldogs return only 141 points from the 2017-18 season. (Game Notes)
