Nyheim Hines Worked at Bojangles on his Bye Week

Former NC State running back Nyheim Hines, and current member of the Colts, spent time working at Bojangles back here in Raleigh during Indianapolis’ bye week.

Zak Keefer of the Indy Star covered the story, and you can and should read it in full here.

Hines knows that the average career of an NFL Rynning Back is 3 years, and he is thinking of his future as a rookie.

If Hines isn’t going to make bank on the gridiron, it’s going to be selling chicken supremes, Cajun fries, dirty rice, tailgate specials, Boberry biscuits, and sweet tea.

“Best fries in the fast food industry,” he boasts. “The chicken’s really good, and they have these things called boberry biscuits. Nothing like them.” (Link)

Hines hopes to own at least 5 Bojangles one day, but he would never envision owning one, without working every area of the restaurant. He doesn’t believe in leading others to do what he is unwilling to do.

As a rookie, Hines has almost 500 yards of offense through 9 games (241 rushing and 202 receiving) with 3 touchdowns. He has grabbed ahold of the 2nd string spot on the Colts depth chart, and looks to have a bright future, due in large part to his versatility. Hines is second on the team in receptions (37), and is only two shy of the team lead (Tight End Eric Ebron).

Hines’ rookie contract is a 4-year deal that is worth a maximum of $3.184 million, but only $724,548 of it is guaranteed. This young man obviously wants to sign a deal when his rookie contract expires, but he is preparing for a future after football.

He is wise beyond his years.
