Jalen Lecque Talks to Evan Daniels About NC State and the NBA

2019 5-star point guard NC State commit Jalen Lecque is verbally committed to the Wolfpack, but he has the ability to go straight to the NBA after his prep year at Brewster Academy. This past weekend Lecque and his Brewster crew were at the National Prep Showcase, and 12 NBA teams were in attendance scouting him. Lecque caught up with 247Sports’ Evan Daniels, and talked NC State and his NBA future.

“I’m not really focused on the NBA right now,” Lecque said. “I’m focused on my first step first with high school. The next step is college. I’m getting everything out of the way. Graduate and looking to perform my best every game.”

“Education can take you really far,” he said. “If the ball stops right now God forbid, I’d have an education if I went to school. I don’t think the G League is in my favor. Not knocking it down or anything, but I don’t think it’s for me.” (247)

NC State fans can go ahead and bank on living with anxiety from now until the Spring, because that’s when he will make his decision regarding next year.

“That wouldn’t come for a while,” he said. “Just being so early in the year and me developing as a point guard and becoming a more scorer and passing and getting everyone involved I think I need more time.” (247)

Lecque told Daniels that he would probably be signing his letter of intent to play at NC State by the end of the early signing period tomorrow.

“I have the papers and stuff, so I’ll probably be doing that over Thanksgiving break,” Lecque said.

“I believe so, but I’m not too sure,” he added when pressed about signing. (247)
