Could 4-Star NC State RB Commit Jamious Griffin Flip to Georgia Tech?

2019 NC State 4-Star Running Back commit Jamious Griffin (Rome, Georgia) was in town this past couple of days for Official Visit Weekend.

Griffin committed to NC State on May 21st, but that didn’t stop the schools from knocking on his door. Nine days later Virginia Tech offered him, and there has been buzz for quite some time that he could flip to the Hokies, joining his older brother Jaylen Griffin (LB), who redshirted his Freshman season this year. In late July, Griffin attended the Blacksburg Bash recruiting barbecue.

Thomas Brown, Miami’s Co-Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach, visited with Griffin on November 30th and December 5th, leaving an offer on the table in Georgia before he left.

With Paul Johnson retiring as head coach at Georgia Tech, and the hiring of former Temple head coach Geoff Collins, staying in his home state and playing with his other brother Quon Johnson (Freshman Defensive Lineman. He only played in 2 games so far this season, and will likely redshirt under the new rule.) is an entertaining possibility. Johnson’s triple-option offense wasn’t enticing for Jamious, but Collins being the new man in town could change things.

According to Russell Johnson of JacketsOnline (Rivals), Griffin will not be signing his letter of intent to NC State during the early signing period (December 19-21).

After committing to NC State, Griffin still planned on taking official visits to NC State, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech this Fall, but his official visit to Raleigh this past weekend is the only one he has taken.

The NC State coaching staff is going to go all-in to make sure Griffin doesn’t flip, but playing college football with one of his brothers has always been a dream of his.

“It’s a once in a million opportunity. What’s more special then playing on the next level with your brother,” Griffin said.

Losing Griffin would be a major blow to the Wolfpack’s 2019 recruiting class. He recently earned the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year Award.
