PI EXCLUSIVE: QB Ty Evans Breaks Down His Commitment to NC State

Elite 11 Quarterback Ty Evans flipped his commitment from Colorado to NC State on Monday, giving the Wolfpack the signal caller they were looking to add to their 2019 recruiting class. I caught up with him yesterday, and he explained why he committed to NC State, what was effective about their recruitment, and what he enjoyed most about his official visit.

Why NC State?

“NC State offered me over a year ago, and were in my Top-2 because of the location. I can start in Business school right away. They have gone to 5 straight bowl games and have put Philip Rivers, Russell Wilson, Jacoby Brissett and Ryan Finley in the NFL in the last 15 years…it’s known as QBU. Coach D just got an extension last year, so it’s a STABLE staff!!”

What was effective about NC State’s recruitment of you?

“I’ve had a great relationship with Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach Drink (Drinkwitz) over the year and NC State does a great job with their recruiting. They not only build relationships, but use technology and social media, which is smart. They stayed in touch, but didn’t over do it.”

Breakdown your thoughts on your Official Visit this past weekend.

“My whole family really enjoyed the Official Visit. It was my little brothers birthday, so he thought the bowling with the recruits was for him, which made his whole weekend. It was a very good balance of information and fun. Coach D was very involved which you don’t always see with Head Coaches, and it was great to meet the staff’s families. My favorite part was getting away with the current players and recruits, which allowed me to see the team culture. It was awkward at first with the other recruits because I was the new guy, but by the end of day one we were clicking. They are great guy and players, which means success.”
