Yesterday 2-Star 2019 Running Back Nick Treco committed to NC State as a preferred walk-on.

I caught up with him shortly afterwards, and he broke down it all came about, his reasons why

On NC State’s interest in him…

Playing at Mallard Creek Coach, (Eddie) Faulkner (Tight Ends Coach) reached out and invited me to the FSU game. When I met him in person, he almost immediately offered me a chance as a Preferred Walk-On. He told me the 2019 class was very good, but still wanted me to come and play running back. He told me I reminded him of (Brady) Bodine and that I would have a chance to compete, play special teams and to potentially earn a scholarship over time.

On visiting NC State

I went back for a individual meeting and really liked everything I saw and spent time with Coach Kitchings (Running Backs) and he told me he liked my game and that he really wanted me in the RB room.

On making the decision to commit…

I had other scholarship opportunities and other Preferred Walk-On opportunities, but I want to play with and against the best in college football. I spoke with Coach Faulkner last week and he said he wanted me to commit and be a part of this 2019 class.

On the type of player he is…
Like Christian McCaffrey, Julian Edelman and Alvin Karmara, I am a multi-dimensional running back. I can run between the tackles, catch the ball out of the backfield or play in the slot.

Some schools recruited me as a slot receiver and some as a running back. Some even asked me if I wanted to play safety, since I was a two-way starter in High School.
