NC State Commit Jamious Griffin Named USAToday 1st Team All-American

NC State 4-Star 2019 4-star Running Back Commit Jamious Griffin has been named to the USAToday All-American 1st Team.

He also recently earned the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year Award.

Griffin is the only NC State commit that didn’t sign his letter of intent this week during the early signing period (Tight End Kam Walker and Long Snapper Joe Shimko both didn’t sign because they are blue shirts.).

It was already reported that he wouldn’t be signing in December, but would wait to do so in February.

He took his Official Visit to NC State on December 9th.

Then he took an Official Visit to Georgia Tech this past week.

Griffin’s bother Quon is a Defensive Lineman at Georgia Tech, and will likely be a redshirt freshman next year (only played in 2 games). What makes the Yellow Jackets intriguing is new head coach Geoff Collins. Griffin would have been more interested in his home state school from the beginning of it weren’t for the triple-option offense former head coach Paul Johnson ran.

NC State was the first Power 5 school to offer Griffin back on May 11th, 2017, and the standout running back committed to run with the Wolfpack on May 21st of this year.

That didn’t stop Virginia Tech from offering 9 days later. Griffin also has family up in Blacksburg, with Linebacker Jaylen redshirting his freshman season this year.

Miami and Auburn both offered the first week of December.

Griffin has given no indication that he is going to bail on his verbal commitment to NC State at this point, but he will be one of the most sought after recruits across the nation between now and February.

Hopefully Running Backs Coach Des Kitchings can hold onto this crucial piece of the 2019 recruiting class.
