NC State actually holds the advantage in both offensive and defensive efficiency.

The Wolfpack ranks 4th nationally in offensive efficiency, and 11th in defensive efficiency, while the Tar Heels rank 18th and 30th respectively.

When you look at the 4 factors of basketball success, when it comes to offense, the Wolfpack holds the advantage in shooting (Effective Field Goal Percentage) and crashing the offensive glass (Offensive Rebounding Percentage), while the Tar Heels take better care of the basketball (Turnover Percentage) and get the free throw line a tad more (Free Throw Rate).

NC State ranks 6th nationally in offensive rebounding percentage and 4th in effective field goal percentage.

Defensively, the Tar Heels hold the advantage in three of the four factors, holding their opponents to a slightly lower effective field goal percentage, boxing out and keeping their opponent from the offensive glass, and keeping their opponent off the free throw line. NC State is superior in forcing turnovers, ranking 5th nationally in defensive turnover percentage.
