VIDEO: DJ Funderburk Talks After NC State Beat Pitt 86-80
Redshirt Sophomore DJ Funderburk stepped up in a big way with Wyatt Walker leaving the game early, logging 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. He spoke with the media after the game. The video is ABOVE, and a bulleted breakdown is BELOW.
- On whether he thought this was his best game in a Wolfpack Uniform: “It was one of many to come. I just tried to step up and help my teammates when we were down a couple of guys.
- I didn’t want Wyatt to be gone. I was kind of surprised they eject you after plays like that, when the other player started it first. The coaches told me “You’re all we got now, so you got to play hard.”
- It’s funny, because I don’t even like zone defense. I think I play better against man-to-man defense.
- They came with the first punch, and we took it, and got used to it a little bit. They were kind of inexperienced. Nothing to take away from them, but they had 3 or 4 freshman on the court at one time. We just figured out how to be more experienced, how to play smarter, and how to find ways to win. We played a little harder at the end of the game.
