On the road in the ACC at South Bend where the Wolfpack lost by 30 last year…with no Markell Johnson…NO PROBLEM.

After taking a 12-10 lead 14 minutes left in the first half, NC State never let Notre Dame take the lead again.

The Irish were resilient, doing everything they could to retake the lead, but every time they were on the verge, NC State had ice in their veins.

Redshirt Junior CJ Bryce was the ICE MAN, scoring 23 points (9-14 FG), which is the most ever in an NC State jersey. He also hit all 5 of his three-point attempts, along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Redshirt Sophomore Devon Daniels’ game wasn’t pretty (5-14 FG), but it was full of effort, grinding out 15 points, 6 rebounds, and a team-high 3 blocks. Daniels’ 2 most important points came with 11.3 seconds left on the clock. In a one-and-one situation, Daniels sunk both free throws, stepping up to the line as 66.7% free throw shooter on the year.

Redshirt Graduate Senior Eric Lockett might have started, but Senior Torin Dorn played the minutes of a starter, and filled the stat sheet like a starter. Dorn finished with 13 points (6-13 FG) and 9 rebounds (team high).

Redshirt Sophomore DJ Funderburk was clutch down the stretch, finishing with 11 points (4-7 FG) and 6 rebounds (5 rebounds).

Sophomore Braxton Beverly was ice cold, shooting 1-9 from the field (1-6 from 3), but did lead the team with 4 assists, and snagged 4 rebounds.

NC State didn’t shoot great, but they outshot the home team from the field (43.5% to 40.7%) and from beyond the arch (36.8% to 25.0%). They also out-rebounded the Irish by 5 (43-38) an snagged 3 more offensive boards (13-10).

The Wolfpack made an impressive improvement on the road, turning the ball over only 7 times, compared to the Irish’s 9.

NC State has one more game left on this 3-game road stretch next Thursday night at 8pm at Louisville.
