Revenge is sweet.

NC State crushed Wake Forest 94-74 last night, avenging a loss on the road in Winston-Salem earlier this year.

Junior Point Guard Markell Johnson was blazing last night, hitting 6 of 9 from beyond the arch (5 in the first half), setting a new career high. Johnson finished with 25 points (19 in the first half). He also had 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Freshman Jericole Hellems had the best night of his college career, scoring 14 points (4-7), marking a new career high.

Senior Torin Dorn recorded his 6th double-double of the season, with 13 points (5-10) and 10 rebounds.

Redshirt Sophomore Devon Daniels had the most balanced stat line, finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (team high). The 5 assists were the second most from Daniels in an NC State jersey (7 assists – Loyola Maryland).

The Wolfpack quite literally dominated the Demon Deacons in every aspect of the game.

They held Wake Forest to a dismal field goal percentage of 37.9%, while shooting 46.3% themselves.

NC State won the free throw battle (NCST – 21-30/WF – 17-23), which has been a point of emphasis by head coach Kevin Keatts.

The Wolfpack out-rebounded the Deacs 47-37, and were +3 on the offensive glass.

NC State had 19 assists (Wake 14) to only 9 turnovers (Wake 10).

It was truly a dominating performance by the Wolfpack. Wake Forest never led for a single second, and the only time the game was tied was when the score was 0-0.

The Wolfpack don’t have a midweek game this week, getting a full 5 days to rest before heading down to Tallahassee to face #16 Florida State.
