Wolfpack fans are sick and tired of hearing about their weak non-conference schedule.

News broke today that it might be a little bit stronger in 2019-20, with NC State facing Memphis up in Brooklyn in the Barclays Center Classic.

Memphis basketball will take on North Carolina State as part of the Barclays Center Classic next season, according to a contract obtained by The Commercial Appeal through an open records request. (Link)

Memphis is 22-13 this season in Penny Hardaway’s first season as head coach, and NC State actually has the chance to face the Tigers in two weeks in the championship game of the NIT on April 4th.

Despite losing their two leading scorers, Hardaway is bringing the #8 recruiting class in the nation to Memphis next season, including the #1 overall player James Wiseman.

The Wolfpack will also play at Auburn next year, after hosting the Tigers this season.

NC State will also host their opponent in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge this year, after heading to Wisconsin this past year.

The News & Observer’s Joe Giglio pointed out the fact that the ACC Tournament will be in Greensboro next year, and the Wolfpack typically schedules a non-conference game when that’s the case, so UNC-Greensboro or Elon could be a possibility.
