With last night’s 78-77 victory over Harvard in the 2nd round of the NIT, NC State picked up their 24th win of the season, marking only the 15th time in school history a team has done so.

1973-74: 30-1 (ACC Champions (12-0)/NCAA Champions/Norm Sloan)
1950-51: 30-7 (Southern Conference Champions (13-1)/1-2 in NCA Tournament/Everett Case)
1947-48: 29-3 (Southern Conference Champions (12-0)/0-1 in NIT/Everett Case)
1954-55: 28-4 (ACC Champions (12-2)/Everett Case)
1972-73: 27-0 (ACC Champions (12-0)/Postseason Ban/Norm Sloan)
1949-50: 27-6 (Southern Conference Champions (12-2)/2-1 in NCAA Tournament/Everett Case)
1982-83: 26-10 (ACC Champions (8-6)/NCAA Champions/Jim Valvano)
1946-47: 26-5 (Southern Conference Champions (11-2)/2-1 in NIT/Everett Case)

1948-49: 25-8 (Southern Conference Champions (14-1)/Everett Case)
1955-56: 24-4 (ACC Champions (11-3)/0-1 in NCAA Tournament/Everett Case)
1987-88: 24-8 (2nd in ACC (10-4)/0-1 in NCAA Tournament/Jim Valvano)
1951-52: 24-10 (Southern Conference Champions (12-2)/1-1 in NCAA Tournament/Everett Case)
2012-13: 24-11 (4th in ACC (11-7)/1-1 in NCAA Tournament/Mark Gottfried)
2018-19: 24-11 (8th in ACC (9-9)/2-0 in NIT/Kevin Keatts
2011-12: 24-13 (4th in the ACC (9-7)/2-1 in NCAA Tournament/Mark Gottfried)

If NC State beats Lipscomb on Wednesday night in Reynolds Coliseum at 9pm, it will mark the 1st time the Wolfpack have won 25+ games in a season since the 1983 National Championship team won 26 games.

Much can be made about this being a disappointing season because of the Wolfpack’s exclusion from the NCAA Tournament. The selection committee made their choice, and I believe it to be a bad one.

NC State played 8 games vs. the teams in the Sweet 16, defeating one of them (Auburn).

But I’m not here to cry over spilled milk.

Don’t let the Wolfpack missing the Big Dance blind you from what this team has done, and has the potential to do.
