NC State announced today that they have given head football coach Dave Doeren a 5-year contract extension through December 31, 2023.

Apparently the contract was negotiated after the end of the regular season in November, and his annual compensation increased from $3 million to $3.25 million.

“I’m grateful for the commitment and support NC State has provided to my family and I,” said Doeren. “This University and community are home to us, we’re excited with what we’re building with NC State football and I look forward to continuing to lead this program.” (GoPack)

Doeren has led the Wolfpack to back-to-back 9-win seasons for the first time since 1991-92. Context…only 12 teams in school history have won 9 games in a single season. Only on three occasions have NC State teams won 9 games in back-to-back years.

The Wolfpack are 11-5 in conference play over the past 2 years, which is tied for the 2nd best conference record in the ACC over that span.

NC State has won 5+ ACC games in consecutive years for the 1st time since 1991-92, and only the 4th time since the formation of the ACC in 1953.
